The film slitting blade is a circular shear knife designed for clean, burr-free cutting of plastic films, laminates, and flexible packaging webs on slitter rewinders and converting lines. For metal, foil, and non-woven slitting applications requiring higher hardness grades, see our rotary slitter knives. Available in standard dimensions such as 610×68.3×3.8mm, 610×68.3×4.76mm, and 610×82.55×3.8mm, with custom outer diameters exceeding 1000mm on request. Manufactured from D2 (Cr12MoV), M2 high-speed steel, or equivalent grades, these blades achieve HRC 58–64 after vacuum heat treatment and cryogenic processing, delivering the edge stability required for high-cycle, thin-gauge film slitting.

  • What material grade is best for slitting abrasive films?

    For abrasive films such as metallized BOPP or filled PE, D2 (Cr12MoV) at HRC 60–62 offers excellent wear resistance. For high-speed lines where frictional heat is a factor, M2 HSS provides better hot hardness and edge stability.

  • Can you match the bore and keyway of my existing knife holder?

    Yes. Provide your OEM holder model or a dimensional drawing, and we will machine the bore to H7 tolerance with the required keyway, pin holes, or drive slots.

  • What is the minimum order quantity for custom sizes?

    The MOQ is 1 piece. We manufacture single custom blades to your drawing or sample, with no tooling charges for standard material grades.

  • How do you control blade runout and parallelism?

    All blades are double-disc ground and inspected on a coordinate measuring machine. Parallelism is held within 0.003mm, and OD runout relative to the bore is ≤0.01mm.

  • What surface finish do you achieve on the cutting edge?

    Standard ground finish is Ra ≤0.2µm. A mirror-polished finish is available for films sensitive to drag or static build-up.
