Non-Standard Packaging Machine Knives

Zig Zag Cutting Blade – Industrial Knives and Anvils

Zig-zag Knives: Precise and Efficient Cutting: The serrated design allows for smooth, quick cuts through materials like plastic, paper, and film. Durable: They last longer than regular blades due to even wear distribution. Versatile: Suitable for a variety of materials and industries. Enhanced Control: The zig-zag pattern grips the material, reducing slippage and improving safety.

Customized sizes are available, according to your drawing or sample.

Zig Zag Cutting Blade Applications

These industrial zig zag cutter blades are fitted in packaging and film-processing machines where serrated cut edges are a functional requirement. Common applications include:

  • Flexible packaging lines: Cutting PE, OPP, and laminated film into zig-zag edges for easy-open consumer packaging
  • Wet wipe and hygiene machines: Producing serrated tear lines on individual wipe packets and roll-dispensed packaging

  • Food packaging equipment: Cutting snack bags, coffee sachets, and condiment pouches with a clean serrated profile

  • Label and ticket production: Decorative zig-zag cuts on garment tags, shipping labels, and hang tags

The knife and anvil function as a matched pair — both components should be replaced simultaneously to preserve cut geometry and prevent accelerated edge wear. Custom dimensions are manufactured to your technical drawing or physical sample.

Durable cutting tools for serrated edge processing

Zig-zag Anvils:

  • Consistent Support: Provides a stable cutting surface for uniform cuts.

  • Durability: Built to withstand repeated cutting without losing performance.

  • Reduced Knife Wear: Helps maintain knife sharpness over time.

  • Improved Precision: Holds material in place for more accurate cutting.

Material Selection

YISHI zig zag cutting blades are manufactured in HSS M2 (DIN 1.3343), vacuum heat-treated to HRC 60–62. M2 is specified over D2 or standard tool steel for this application because its fine carbide grain preserves sharp serration tips under the intermittent impact load of a packaging machine's cut cycle. At HRC 60–62 the blade resists edge deformation on abrasive films — OPP, PE, and laminated structures — while remaining regrindable on a surface grinder, extending total service life across multiple sharpening cycles. Blades softer than HRC 60 show rapid tip rounding on high-speed packaging lines; harder than HRC 62 introduces brittleness and increases the risk of serration tip chipping on machines with mechanical shock.

How to Order Custom Sizes

Submit a dimensional drawing (PDF or DXF) or a physical worn blade as a sample. Our technical team confirms the tooth pitch, blade profile, and recommends the appropriate steel grade, then returns a production drawing for your sign-off before manufacturing begins. Standard lead time for custom zig zag cutting blades is 7–15 business days after drawing confirmation. Minimum order quantities are flexible — contact us directly for single-piece prototypes and volume pricing on replacement sets.
