Non-Standard Special Shaped Blades

Special Shaped Industrial Blades

Special shaped industrial blades for custom cutting, trimming, and processing applications.

Customized sizes are available, according to your drawing or sample.

  • Fully Custom
  • Expedited Production Processing

Special-shaped industrial blades from YISHI Machinery are engineered for non-standard cutting geometries where off-the-shelf tooling cannot meet process requirements. These blades are specified by procurement engineers and maintenance supervisors across packaging, recycling, food processing, and converting lines who need profiles matched to unique machine paths, irregular product contours, or proprietary OEM designs. Manufactured from vacuum heat-treated tool steels—including SKD-11 (Cr12MoV), D2, M2 high-speed steel, and tungsten carbide grades—each blade is produced to a hardness range of HRC 58–63, with outer diameter tolerance held to +0.1 mm and inner diameter tolerance to +0.03/–0.00 mm. The result is a cutting edge that maintains register, reduces unplanned downtime, and directly replaces OEM specials without the lead-time penalty.

Take a Closer Look

  • Flexible Packaging Converting

Custom profiled blades for pouch-making machines, form-fill-seal lines, and stand-up pouch gusset cutters. Blades are matched to machine models from Totani, Mamata, and Hudson-Sharp, replacing OEM specials with equivalent or upgraded steel grades.

  • Plastics Recycling and Pelletising

Special-shaped rotor and bed knives for strand pelletisers, dicers, and granulators processing filled and reinforced polymers. D2 and M2 grades are common for abrasive compounds; tungsten carbide is specified for glass-filled materials.

  • Food Processing and Portioning

Non-standard circular and straight blades for ultrasonic cutting horns, water-jet backing plates, and multi-head weigher knife assemblies. Stainless-capable grades are available where washdown compatibility is required.

  • Textile and Nonwoven Converting

Profiled slitting blades and crush-cut rings for polyester staple fibre lines, spunbond lines, and technical textile cross-cutters. Blades are ground to match existing holder geometries and cutting drum profiles.

  • Tyre and Rubber Component Manufacturing

Special-shaped knives for tyre building machines, inner liner skiving, and extrusion take-off cutting. Blades are produced in wear-resistant D2 or M2 to handle uncured rubber compounds and fabric-reinforced stock.

Advantages:

Why Choose Yishi

YISHI Machinery operates an in-house tool-steel inventory and a machine park that includes wire EDM, CNC cylindrical and surface grinding, and 5-axis machining centres. This allows special-shaped blades to be produced without the minimum-order constraints typical of OEM spares programmes. Every blade is inspected against the customer drawing with digital hardness testers and CMM dimensional verification. The company has supplied replacement specials for Totani, Mamata, Hudson-Sharp, Conair, and Rieter lines, among others. Expedited air freight and DDP shipping terms are available for urgent line-down situations.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What information do you need to quote a special-shaped blade?

We can quote from a dimensioned 2D drawing (PDF or DWG), a 3D CAD file (STEP or IGES), a physical sample, or the OEM machine model and part number. Critical dimensions to include are OD, ID, thickness, edge angle, mounting hole positions, and the material grade or the material being cut. If a sample is worn, we can reverse-engineer the original geometry from the remaining profile.

  • What is the typical lead time for a custom special-shaped blade?

Standard lead time is 10–15 working days from drawing approval for tool steel blades. Tungsten carbide blades typically require 15–20 working days. Expedited 5–7 day service is available for urgent requirements. Lead time is confirmed at order based on the complexity of the profile and current machine loading.

  • Can you match the hardness of my existing OEM blade?

Yes. We can target a specific HRC range within the capability of the selected steel grade. For example, D2 is typically supplied at HRC 58–60, M2 at HRC 60–63, and SKD-11 at HRC 58–60. If you have a hardness specification on your drawing, we will confirm whether the grade can achieve it and provide a hardness test certificate with the shipment.

  • Do you offer coatings for special-shaped blades?

Physical vapour deposition (PVD) coatings including TiN, TiCN, CrN, and AlTiN are available. Coatings are applied after final grinding and are recommended for applications involving abrasive materials, adhesive substrates, or where extended edge retention is required. Coating thickness is typically 2–4 µm.

  • What is the minimum order quantity for a custom blade?

There is no fixed minimum order quantity. We produce single-piece prototypes and small-batch runs of 5–10 pieces for trial and validation. Unit pricing decreases at higher volumes, and we can provide a price-break schedule for quantities of 50, 100, and 500 pieces.

  • How do you ensure the blade will fit my machine?

We manufacture to the dimensions and tolerances on the approved drawing. First-article inspection reports with CMM data are available. For critical fitment, we recommend sending a used blade or a machine mounting detail so we can verify mating features such as keyways, bolt-hole patterns, and register surfaces before production.
